What information do I need to bring when I register?
- You need to bring ID in accordance with the Home Office regulations
- Your CV
- Names and telephone numbers for previous employers over the last 2 years for referencing purposes. If there are any gaps in your employment then you will also need to bring the details of someone you know personally who is professionally qualified that can provide a character reference.
- If you are looking to temp you will also need to bring your bank account details and national insurance number (if you have one)
Once my CV is submitted to a vacancy, how long can I expect to wait before I hear an outcome?
This varies greatly between companies as the recruitment processes are different, and deadlines may be in place. However, we promise to contact all our candidates to let them know the outcome as soon as we are able.
How long can I expect to wait before I find temporary work?
This can be very quick and you should be prepared to start work the next day providing you are available. On occasions it can take up to a week or so to find you the right temporary role, depending upon the time of year, market factors and your skill set contributing to a short delay.
Do I get paid holiday pay when I am temping?
Yes you will accrue holiday pay immediately you start temping. Details of the procedures for booking holiday will be discussed as part of the registration process.
What recruitment do you specialise in?
We specialise in office support staff including administration and secretarial. We also recruit for HR specialists, marketing specialists and we have a Legal Division recruiting for Legal Secretarial and Paralegal.
I do not yet have a National Insurance Number. Do I need one to start working?
No you don’t need one to start working and you will not be able to get one until you are employed. Once you have a job we can issue you with a letter which will assist the process in securing your National Insurance Number.

Our office is situated above Superdrug in the lower end of Guildford High Street. There is a green door to the right of Superdrug. York Road car park is well sign posted in Guildford and from the A3. The High Street can be accessed from Levels 9 or 10. There is also parking in Millbrook and Farnham Road, both situated at the lower end of the High Street.

As a candidate looking for permanent work you can expect to receive the following service from our trained consultants:

After an initial conversation with one of our consultants and upon receipt of a current CV, you will be invited to attend an appointment at one of our offices.

The format for this appointment will be an informal interview to clarify your requirements and discuss prospective vacancies in conjunction with your skills and work history.

You will also be asked to complete computer evaluations on relevant software such as Word and Excel, and general keyboard abilities.

Should your skills need updating, we will be happy to offer computer based training free of charge.

We will also provide CV advice, and guidance with regards to layout, content and format.

Once all the criteria have been identified our trained consultants will proactively source opportunities for you.

When an interview has been arranged, you will be invited back into the office for a briefing appointment which gives you an opportunity to spend time with a consultant who will discuss the job content, the Company and the interview format.

Having attended the interview you will be asked to call your consultant with your feedback.

Once an offer has been accepted your consultant will keep in touch with you to ensure that your notice period runs smoothly.
Being prepared for your interview is crucial and we would recommend the following:
- You need to do as much research about the company as possible prior to your interview.
- Prepare some questions to ask during the interview.
- Look smart and presentable, first impressions count and if you are not sure of the dress code, ask.
- Arrive 5-10 minutes early – being late for an interview is not acceptable whatever the excuse.
- Make good eye contact when you greet your interviewer and give a firm handshake.
- Smile and listen carefully to what the interviewer is saying.
- Ask questions about the job, prospects and the company’s commitment to training and personal development.
- Be prepared with answers to competency-based questions which ideally relate to your work history.
- Keep your answers concise – try not to waffle.
- And finally let the interviewer know that you are interested in the job!
Many jobseekers do not realise that the way their CV is presented is critical to their success in the selection process.
Most Recruiters will be dealing with many applications per vacancy and they are usually working to tight deadlines. They will not have the time to search through too many pages and will be looking for key words in your CV.
A good CV will help you get through the selection process.
The structure of your CV should include the following :-
- Your name, address and contact numbers
- Personal profile which is a brief statement about your qualities
- Work history starting with your most recent position and working backwards
- Academic qualifications and vocational training i.e. GCSE’s, A Levels, Degree, NVQ’s, IT skills and internal training courses
- Hobbies and interests
Ideally your CV should not be more than two pages and your employment history should have the dates that you worked and your employer’s name followed by your job title and responsibilities under separate bullet points.
Make sure you account for any gaps in your employment history i.e. travelling or taking time out.
Most importantly, ensure that there are no spelling mistakes in your CV - get it checked!
Take time to read it and ensure it is a true reflection of your work history.

Temps mean business
Every week 1.2 million temporary workers are keeping business in the UK moving. National Temporary Workers Week is REC's annual campaign to promote the contribution of the temporary workforce and demonstrate the broad range of professions and industries that temps work in. With attitudes to work changing and variety and flexibility increasingly seen as key indicators of job satisfaction 'temping' is becoming the choice of more and more workers. To highlight the work of some of the country's most outstanding temporary workers REC runs the One in a Million Award scheme which recognises achievements across a variety of sectors. The awards are presented at the House of Commons during National Temporary Workers Week.

All the winners of the Sector Awards and the Special Awards (The Stepping Stone and Diversity Awards), are automatically nominated for the One in a Million Award, this is the only national award given to recognise excellence within the temporary workforce.
Stepping Stone Award
Every year thousands of people find permanent work through successfully completing a temporary assignment. Temping is widely used as a way to get back into the work environment after a career break, or as a route to break into a new career. Temping is a great opportunity to acquire new skills and knowledge. From the candidate's perspective they can use the assignment to test out a new environment before making any firm commitment. The employer can use this time to assess the ability of the candidate and see their work in practice. The Stepping Stone Award recognises an exceptional individual who has successfully been appointed to a permanent role on the basis of their temporary or contract work. The prize includes a fabulous VIP trip to London with accommodation in a top four star hotel. Diversity Plus Award
By 2011, 80% of the working age population will be made up of people who have a disability, or are over 45 or are female or are from an ethnic minority group. This will include people returning to the workforce or balancing care and domestic responsibilities. We need to ensure that we are responsive to the diverse needs of our society now and in the future if we are to contribute effectively to the Government's aspiration of increasing the employment rate from the current 75% to 80%.
